Ted, may I call you this evening regarding my idling issue?
You may certainly do so, but I will be on the road until at least 8, en route to Donington Park for the weekend
You could try to reset probes adaptation values using the C'mon tool. By the way, upgrading ECU software to last version (8000) solved idling issues for me.
May I jump in on this?
My C1 200 has done over 27k miles and I have never had any idling issues. I ran the bike recently without the dashboard to try to find the source of an annoying rattle (I failed) During the test ride the engine stopped once, but having put it all back together the idle speed is low and erratic. I have tried the Moditec reset but it doesn't help. Any ideas please - I am pretty sure I did nothing to the bike except ride about a mile with the instrument panel off.
Any help appreciated, thanks
Did you disconnect the battery when you removed the dashboard ? If so this could have reset the ECU so you might need to swing 3 times the throttle handle and let the engine idle for 15 minutes. Failure to do so might leave your ECU with unadapted parameters.
I did not disconnect the battery during my investigation, but I did the Moditec Reset procedure, which I understand to be discon battery, 2 full throttles and then 15 minutes idle. The machine was fine at first but then deteriorated again.
Thanks for the input
There is also the C'Mon diagnostic tool available to members - if you PM me your address I can send it out to you :-)
PM'd you, looking forward to getting to grips with the CMON
It's on its way to you as we speak :-)
I advice you to reset tuning parameters with the C'mon if you don't find any fault.
One of our C1's was new in 2001, one we have had since 2005, one since 2007. We rarely use the bikes during the winter months and being busy all three can stand idle without being turned over. Even during biking weather for us, one bike can remain unused for quite a time. This results in a flat battery regularly and they need to be removed and re-charged. In all this time we have never had idling problems, let alone because the battery has been removed. The battery is merely re-connected and the bikes started in the normal way, first time always if the battery will turn the starter motor.
