Up Topic Open Technical Section / C1 Technical Chat / oil light flickers at idle
- - By nokon Date 09-07-2012 18:54
I recently changed oil to Valvoline racing oil which I use in all my other motorcycles. Soon afterwards I noticed that the oil light would flicker at idle.
I cannot relate it to engine temperature, sometimes it flickers when I first start and then goes away, and sometimes it stays flickering even though the C1 is warmed up completely.
I looked at old posts on the subject, and one mentioned "high end oil" creating this phenomena. Is there real problem with using some oils, or is it just a pressure sensor problem?
Should I use a particular weight of oil? The temperatures here in the summer are quite high. Regards, Kurt

it should thin out after time if the oil drag is slowing it down.

try the pressure switch fix (clean out the hole or put a washer under the spring) or turn the idle up a touch on the throttle housing (small allen screw between the air box and throttle body).
